EXCELLENT 9 reviewsElizabeth Saucier17 July 2023 Truly an amazing experience! A little slice of Heaven. Enjoy moments of serenity and relaxation with perfect accommodations. Michelle Olson-Rogers17 July 2023 What an amazingly perfect experience we had at the Hobbit Home, Fern Hollow! True Lord of the Ring fans here, it was everything we dreamed of and more. The furnishings and kitchen were top of the line and the attention to detail, amazing. You can tell they put a lot of thought into this property! Highly recommend for a family of 4 or two couples looking to getaway. Loved it! Rob S28 March 2023 Stayed in the Sky Frame last night and has the most relaxing time I have ever had outside of my home. The space is exquisite and the surroundings are just as beautiful. Many thoughtful touches throughout the tree house. Was an absolute pleasure and can't wait until I can come back with my partner! Brandon Jeralds20 February 2023 Awesome little spot. Went away for a quick weekend getaway. It was beautiful, comfy, and secluded. We loved sitting in the hot tub looking out at the woods and lake beyond. Tony S10 February 2023 Purposely Lost gives you an opportunity to escape the hussle of day to day life and reconnect with nature in a unique way. It was an incredibly enjoyable weekend. Below is a detailed review that I hope helps people as well as the owners of Purposely Lost. I share our observations across several important criteria. Overall experience: 5 stars. Absolutely loved our time in the Canopy Treehouse. The setting is incredibly idyllic. You have a 360 degree view of nature ranging from tall old pines to a cute little lake. While there are other accommodations on the property, there is plenty of space between then so you feel like you have nature to yourself. Treehouse Design: 4.5 stars. The treehouse is breathtaking. Unbelievably gorgeous design and the owners clearly invested in quality finishes. The beds were comfortable and the linens while not over the top luxurious were good quality. The kitchen is well appointed which is no small feat for a space that is 20 ft in the air. One thing I would love to see improved to move this to a full 5 stars is the seating. There is a comfortable chair suited for 1 person and a built in breakfast nook. While the nook is convenient for eating, it's not too comfortable to cuddle up with your significant other. Sure there are beds but if you want to lounge (ala a couch) and read or watch something on the provided projector, it's not a relaxing experience. I'd love to see a small couch added. Lastly, and it's minor, the listing says you have a fireplace. It's a bit of a stretch to call the unit a fireplace. It's a heater with lighting. Treehouse Cleanliness: 4 stars. Is the treehouse clean enough to be comfortable, yes. The bathroom in particular is very nicely maintained. The reason I can't give 5 stars on this front is because the place does need a good spring cleaning. There is a ton of dust built up on things like the ceiling fan and window screens (inside). You get the sense that someone cleans after each guest but they do the basics, mop the floor, change the sheets, clean the bathroom. But they never give the place a good deep cleaning. Hot Tub: 0 stars. This was utterly terrible. There is no way to put lipstick on this pig. The hot tub was filthy. We arrived after sunset. I opened the hot tub cover to see about maybe taking a dip in the cool winter night. I was punched in the face by a noxious odor. Human soup. That's a disgusting visual right? Well it should be because this thing was beyond disgusting. Sheer morbid curiosity made me open the cover in the day time. Remember the green sludge in The Simpsons near the power plant? Well the water wasn't that neon in brightness but it was nearly that green in color. There was a soap scum ring around the entire tub. We closed it up and never went near it again. It's clear that the water is not being changed on a regular cycle. I would also question if the chemical maintenance is being performed properly. I ventured through some of the other sites that were unoccurpied and found the tubs there to be in the same condition. This needs focus from the owners. Communication: 3 stars. I booked in late 2021 for a trip in Early 2023. I received an automated email with a confirm number and nothing else. I sent several emails with questions that went unanswered. It wasn't until I reached out on Instagram that I finally got a response. However, once we were on property, the communication was good and we got quick responses to any questions we had. Value: 3.5 stars. Is Purposely Lost expensive, yes. Is it worth it, yes. To be clear, this would be 5 stars if the hot tub situation did not exist. Using a hot tub in such a beautiful nature setting is a key selling point and the lack of ability to do so really eroded value for me. Summary: Should you book at Purposely Lost, yes. The setting is amazing and the experience of being in the trees is so relaxing and filled my heart with happiness. I hope the team reads the review and addresses the easy fixed issues that will make this place amazing. Trevdog milli10 December 2022 Great place to spend the weekend! Very nice view!!! Marybeth Schultz17 May 2022 We had a wonderful stay at Purposely Lost! We stayed two nights at the new Fern Hollow Hobbit House. The house itself is beautiful and so cozy. The outdoor space is absolutely perfect! The large front patio with the firepit and private hot tub, overlooking the woods and lake was stunning! The location is great, close enough to town that you can just pop to the store and back, but far enough out that it feels extremely secluded and private. You can see two of the treehouses from the Hobbit House, but there's plenty of space and trees in between to not hinder your privacy at all. We had the best weekend getaway and cannot wait to come back again! Highly recommend! Jim Sweeney10 February 2022 Wonderful location and accomodations 👍👍 Two thumbs up Amber Mcdonald10 December 2021 The most amazing treehouse experience! We stayed at the cliff house and this place was absolutely beautiful and comfortable and the perfect way to unwind. The hot tub overlooking the lake and tree house was perfect.... I felt like I was in a fairytale for a few days :) Deff worth a visit- you will not regret it!
